    Girls in Tech NYC and the League of Women Coders

    If you’re interested in pursuing a career in the technology industry, Girls in Tech is a great resource. This community of entrepreneurs, tech professionals, and women, in general, provides a supportive environment where women can learn about and connect with one another. The website includes articles about different groups in the area, including Bootup, League of Women Coders, and Girl Knows Tech. Check out our list of resources for women in technology below.

    Girl Knows Tech

    The new Girl Knows Tech in NYC is an exciting new initiative by a group of young female technologists. The organization is a part of the Tech Training Program and pairs female mentees with graduate-level mentors. The goal of the program is to promote the development of tech skills among young women, and the space is located in Google’s headquarters. It is open to students and the general public and is intended to give girls an opportunity to experience what tech jobs are all about.

    League of Women Coders

    If you want to become a software developer but are unsure how to go about it, check out the League of Women Coders. This collective of women programmers and hackers meets monthly for a variety of activities. Members can work on projects, ask questions, and meet new people. The events are typically free and include food! While these events can be extremely helpful for improving coding skills, they can also serve as a great way to socialize.

    The organization began in 2011 with the aim of inspiring more women to join the technology field. It has 230,000 members in 122 countries. It offers coding resources, a global community, and a job board. Tech Ladies is another organization that supports women in tech. It helps girls explore the various career paths available to them. It also has a Slack channel for members to discuss jobs and share knowledge with each other.

    Girls in STEM

    The recent Atlantic article titled “Why Women Aren’t Making it in Tech” is a great starting point for tackling the issue of women’s role in the field. In addition to advocating for gender equality in tech companies, Ms. Rota is also on the board of Girls in Tech NYC. Here, she shares her thoughts. Among other things, women are more likely to be able to pursue a career in tech if they are encouraged to pursue their passions.

    The New York Academy of Sciences has recently announced a new initiative called “1000 Girls, 1000 Futures.” This initiative is part of the Clinton Global Initiative and works to increase the representation of women in STEM fields. Through coding courses, boot camps, and hackathons, these organizations help girls find their place in the tech world. These programs vary from chapter to chapter, but all share a common goal: to increase the number of women in technology.

    Bootup

    The New York City technology community is ripe for empowering young women and girls. Girls in Tech NYC will host a free holiday party on December 21 at The Forum. which will be open to everyone in the tech community in New York City. The event is free and open to the public. and attendees will include those in the tech media, technology startups, and other interested parties.     The NYC chapter of Girls in Tech is one of many organizations dedicated to empowering young women in STEM fields. This nonprofit offers after-school and summer programming camps and mentorship programs for girls ages six to 17. The New York chapter offers an online community. a free job board, coding boot camps, and other events. It’s also active in the New York City tech community, hosting networking events, mentoring programs, and more.
