Syracuse, N.Y. — SubCat Studios, a sound recording studio in Syracuse, has opened a new facility where independent filmmakers can edit their movies and videos.
SubCat said its post-production studio on the third floor of its building at 219 S. West St. contains a full suite of editing and color-grading equipment and software for filmmakers to complete their films.
In addition, the studio said its audio engineers can help filmmakers rework their audio or re-record an actor’s dialogue just one floor beneath the post-production room.
Cody Slade, SubCat’s head of videography, said the studio decided to open the new facility after hearing from producers that there was no fully equipped post-production film studio in the area.
While there are facilities in the area, including the Greater Syracuse Soundstage in DeWitt and the American High studios in Liverpool, for shooting movies, most post-production work is done elsewhere, he said.
Founded in Skaneateles by owner Ron Keck, SubCat moved to Syracuse in 2010 and has become a popular location for recording music.
